OFFICIAL DEFINITION OF A RESEARCH AND/OR SCIENCE PARK

A research and/or science park is managed by specialists whose primary goal is to increase the wealth of its community by promoting the culture of innovation, as well as by enhancing the competitiveness of its companies and institutions based upon the knowledge associated with them or established by them.

In order to accomplish this, a research park and/or science park must stimulate and ensure the transfer of knowledge and technology amongst universities, R&D institutions, companies and markets, make it easier to create and foster the growth of companies focused upon innovation by means of company incubators and spinoffs, and by offering other value-added services, as well as first-class spaces and facilities.
